My work comes from a deep need to express the gigantic need to save ourselves from ourselves. My whole life I have seen how we have the ability to destroy everything we touch as a human species. I fear for our animal brothers and sisters we are killing everyday and the earth we all need to live on. Especially since we have the choice of doing the right thing and save ourselves and all other life on this planet. We, the human species have gotten so arrogant as to where we belong on this planet. We put ourselves above all other creatures as special and choose to rape our planet for short term gains and money.
My art tries to show the connection between our beautiful, special planet and the webs of life we depend on. Its not just about us! We are part of this earth and we all depend on every other plant and animal that are a part of this planet. We come from the earth and we go back to it as every other thing does. My work tries to show that we are all connected and how very important that is. If we donʼt take care of our planet, we donʼt live either. The unfortunate part is that we are taking out all other species too, if it were just us, I wouldnʼt care. I work in acrylic paint and like the fact that they are very forgiving and very workable. I love to take walks in the desert or anywhere really, as long as its nature. I see my next painting in the waves of the ocean, the boulders in the desert, the cracks in the bark of a tree. When I feel the work coming from within, thatʼs when I start my new paintings. I have to feel it to begin it.
